Baker 2 Vegas (B2V) Police Department Relay Race
MESAC members provide amateur radio communications during this race in support of the Costa Mesa Police Department. Several cars are specially equipped by MESAC volunteers with radio sets, emergency lighting, signs, and other equipment required for the race. A full day prior to the race is set aside to equip each car with power for the radios, antennas so they can communicate, and training of operators. The vehicles are operated by Police Department employees and volunteers who follow the runners during the race. In Pahrump, several members are stationed with a tall portable antenna to handle communicates between the team captains, the follow vehicle, the chase vehicle, and the runners.
